Single-case study reveals improved psychological well-being in college students with intellectual disabilities, indicating the potential of EcoWellness counseling in higher education.
Introduction With the increase in college students with intellectual disabilities (ID) enrolled in inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) programs, there is a necessity to understand additional interventions that support their mental health and wellness. Methods We implemented a multiple probe, single case research design across participants to investigate the effectiveness of an EcoWellness counseling intervention on psychological well-being of college students with I/DD. We facilitated an eight-week EcoWellness intervention with five participants, resulting in a basic effect of the intervention for three of the five participants. Results and Conclusion The results of this study provide preliminary evidence to support the use of EcoWellness counseling interventions to enhance psychological well-being for individuals with an intellectual disability in a college setting.
