Children who are gifted and also have learning disabilites are doubly at risk. If we don't intervene, these students frequently fail in school. If we intervene by addressing only their weaknesses, they often resent us, our efforts, and the school's response. However, by rethinking the classroom environment and providing enrichment, structure, and remediation, and through collaboration among professionals with varied expertise, we can effectively and successfully meet these students' needs.
