The α1‐chain of cod skin collagen has been cleaved with cyanogen bromide. The resulting peptides have been isolated and purified by chromatography on phosphocellulose and CM‐cellulose and gel filtration on Sephadex. The amino acid composition and molecular weights of eight of these peptides, accounting for about 70% of the whole α1‐chain, are presented. Comparison of amino acid compositions suggests a homology between three of these peptides and cyanogen bromide peptides from rat skin and chick bone α1‐chains.
