Extremely large magneto-optical Kerr-effects are reported for a variety of metallic uranium-compounds with Curie-temperatures around 200 K. The polar Kerr-rotation is shown to reach 9.1 degrees for USb0.8Te0.2. The maximum value of the efficiencyη = Rsin²2θKis found to be about 0.05. This large magneto-optical response is attributed to5f → 6dinterband transitions.
