Secondary omission spectra have been studied in p -type ZnTe in the 4.2–170 K temperature range under the band-to-band excitation by an Ar + ion laser. The 1 L O , 2 L O and 3 L O Raman-like lines have been observed besides the free- and bound-exciton luminescence lines and their L O -phonon replicas. Temperature dependences of the line intensity, spectral position and width are compared among various radiation components. The observed temperature quenchings of the Raman-like lines are explained by the increase of the energy denominators in the Raman tensors due to the thermal shift of the exciton energy.
