The inclined beam technique previously described by the authors (see abstr. A63316 of 1973) has been used to measure dissociative recombination cross sections of D 2 + (deuterium) ions for interaction energies between 0.28 and 4.0 eV. The initial vibrational population of the ions was close to that observed by von Busch and Dunn (1972), whilst the absolute accuracy of the measurement was of order +or-10%. At 1 eV the cross section was 9.2*10 -16 cm 2 , which is about 40% larger than that previously measured for H 2 + ions.
