Five issues that affect assessment with diverse populations are presented and discussed. The “quest for the golden label” issue concerns problems with labels rather than operational measurement. The “three musketeers” issue is the tendency to believe one measure can work equally well for all. The “horizontal research” issue refers to the tendency to do nondevelopmental research on nontraditional groups. Sampling problems are discussed under the “bias is bias” issue. The “I'm okay, you're not” issue is the tendency to train few assessment specialists who are knowledgeable about diversity issues.
