Gentrified urban communities face many challenges, and residents may struggle to “make ends meet.” Furthermore, gentrification and related issues compound these plights. In a time of diminishing external assistance, communities are at a crossroads. Yet residents are using their own assets to take back neighborhoods. This work utilizes an exploratory lens to understand these actions and provides feasible recommendations for stakeholders to consider when planning future efforts. By tapping into communal connections, pooling resources, and partnering with vested community organizations, residents can continue to play active roles in enacting positive, sustainable, community change.
