In this work the mass transfer coefficient for the absorption of oxygen was measured for solutions of K 2 SO 4 , (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 , Na 2 SO 4 , MgSO 4 , MnSO 4 , Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 , NaCl, AlC1 3 under conditions of nearly horizontal, thin, essentially laminar, flowing films. The results showed a systematically ordered dependence of the mass transfer coefficient on the hydration where the values of the mass transfer coefficient decrease with the decreasing entropy. This effect becomes progressively more pronounced with increasing charge of the cations. Finally, although the entropy of hydration has a strong influence on the changes in the coefficient, it does not have a common linear relationship for the investigated ions.
