Geophysical Research Letters is one of the AGU's all-Union scientific journals. To do its job well, GRL ought to cover, with reasonable balance, the research interests of the AGU membership. But, more importantly, GRL is a rapid-publication letters journal that seeks to publish forefront, interesting science and minimize the publication of work that is routine.
