The low temperature Mossbauer spectra of iron-nickel alloys around the Invar composition show no effects attributable to atomic inhomogeneity or different magnetic phases. The shapes of the spectra results from the range in exchange fields, and from the coexistence of small electric field gradients and dipolar magnetic fields arising from the electronic and magnetic differences of the iron and nickel atoms.
