Standard intensities of the Raman bands of C 6 H 6 , 1,3,5,-C 6 H 3 D 3 , and C 6 D 6 have been obtained photoelectrically. An ambiguity in the vibrational assignment for 1,3,5,-C 6 D 3 H 3 has been removed, and the assumption of the invariance of the polarizability and anisotropy derivatives upon isotopic substitution has been tested. A sum rule for depolarization ratios of Raman bands in isotopic homologues has been derived subject to the same assumptions used for obtaining the intensity sum rules.
