Magnetic and nonmagnetic particles are suspended in liquid metals to obtain a fluid with high magnetic susceptibility, high electrical conductivity, and tunable viscosity. These properties will allow magnetohydrodynamic experiments over a wider parameter range than liquid metals alone.
