Prenatal diagnosis of intestinal obstruction in the third trimester using amniotic fluid bile acid analysis

Total bile acid concentration in third trimester amniotic fluid was determined using an enzymatic technique and fluorometry. The technique was successfully applied to the prenatal diagnosis of intestinal obstruction in a 33‐week fetus from a pregnancy presenting with polyhydramnios.
