SUMMARY Histologic sections of bovine embryos and fetuses were used to study the development of the bovine eye. Age estimates were made on the basis of gestational size, which ranged between 6 and 410 mm. Gestational size was correlated with approximate age and with development of ocular structures, including: outer tunic and extraocular muscles, uveal tract, retina, iridocorneal angle, lens and perilenticular vascular tunics, eyelids and adnexa, vitreous, and melanogenesis. Results of study of the development of the bovine eye indicated that it seemed well developed by the end of the second trimester of gestation.
