Preservation of meniscal cartilage is a key factor in maintaining a healthy knee. The successful repair of a torn meniscus has become the standard of care when dealing with meniscal tears. Pioneering techniques in arthroscopic-assisted meniscal repair have withstood the test of time and have become the standard for successful repair. The vertical suture-loop is the standard by which all repairs are measured. A number of new arthroscopic implants are available, which are attractive in their simplicity. There is little, if any, literature that substantiates this progressive trend. If used appropriately, these implants have the potential for improving our current techniques in achieving successful meniscal repair.
