Theoretical analysis demonstrates cross-field theory applications in capacitor motors, highlighting an alternative to conventional revolving field models.
Analyses of the capacitor motor operation date back to the 1920's, a pioneer effort being that of Bruderlin1 in Europe. Work by Bloch,2 Biermanns,3 and others antedates that of Morrill4 in this country whose analysis has been widely used. All of these have been based on the double revolving field theory, being extensions of that theory to the usual single-phase induction motor.
