People employed in the design section of three companies participated in a questionnaire and interview study to investigate the health effects of computer work. Of the members of the study group, 63% used Computer‐Aided Design (CAD) systems and the remaining 37% were non‐CAD users. Complaints of the hands/wrists, upper back, and skin were significantly greater among those who spent a relatively higher number of hours on CAD work. CAD users who had greater difficulties in handling their CAD system reported relatively more skin rashes and complaints of the elbows and upper back.
