Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is steadily increasing in society. The presence and cumulative effects of dyslipidemia have been shown to be very important in the atherosclerotic process in previous studies. This demonstrates the importance of primary and secondary prevention regardless of the age of the patient. Families of individuals with familial dyslipidemia should be screened for early diagnosis and treatment. In elderly and pediatric patients, statin therapy should be initiated at low doses and gradually increased according to the target low density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels.
