Self-Assembly and X-ray Structure of a Dimetalloparacyclophane Incorporating a π−π Stacked Subunit

1,4-Bis(2-pyridoxy)benzene, readily prepared from hydroquinone and 2-bromopyridine, reacts with silver nitrate to produce a novel [2 + 2] complex, which is shown, by an X-ray crystal structure determination, to be a dimetalloparacyclophane containing two π−π closely stacked benzene rings.
