Absorption rates of pure carbon dioxide by aqueous ammonia and sodium hydroxide solutions were measured using a small agitated vessel. The interfacial area was known and the stirring rate was kept constant. The rates were compared with those predicted by the film, the penetration, and the Kishinevsky models for intraphase mass transfer. The film theory showed the best agreement.
