A new printed monopole configuration, the vertex chopped printed triangular monopole antenna, is proposed. It gives an ultra-wide impedance bandwidth ratio of 12.6:1 for a voltage standing wave ratio of 2 and over 25:1 for a voltage standing wave ratio equal to 2.6. Experiments were performed to measure the bandwidth and the radiation patterns of this antenna, which tally well with simulated results.
