Tests are made on the microhardness and tensile strength of TiN whiskers. Anisotropy of the Vickers microhardness is found for the (430) and (111) faces of TiN whiskers of growth directions [001] and [110], respectively. For the (430) face the Vickers microhardness as a function of loading applied is also studied. For the static tensile test TiN whiskers of growth directions [001] and [111] are selected. The highest value of tensile strength, i.e. σf = 379.2 kg/mm2 is found for a [111] TiN whisker of diameter d = 10.8 μm.
