A Medline/Pubmed and Embase search was carried out from January 1981 to September 2008, looking for the following terms in the title or abstract: »HSV/herpes«, »genital ulcers«, »HSV/herpes pregnancy«, »neonatal HSV/herpes«, and »HSV/herpes drugs«. For some specific recommendations additional Medline/Pubmed search was performed when necessary. Google search was performed in September 2007 with the search term »HSV guideline(s)«
