A chromatographic analysis of the primary metabolic components in the cell sap of flax tissues is described. Thirteen ninhydrin‐reacting compounds were isolated, twelve of which were identified as known amino‐acids. Eight acids were separated, six of which were identified; the other two acid fractions corresponded in chromatographic behaviour with no available known acids. Five sugars were isolated and identified.
