The Raman spectrum of single crystals of KN3 has been investigated over the frequency range from 30 to 4000 cm−1. The ``unit cell'' method of Bhagavantam and Venkatarayudu was used to classify the normal modes and to derive their selection rules. In addition to making available the Raman shifts for KN3 crystals, this work also provides a check on assignments of much of the fine structure observed previously in the infrared spectrum.
