Poly(ethylene‐ d 4 oxide) in the molecular weight range 10 4 to 10 5 has been synthesized by anionic polymerization of highly pure ethylene‐ d 4 oxide with carbazolylpotassium as initiator in the presence of a cryptand in THF as solvent. The polymers show an unimodal molecular weight distribution as confirmed by high pressure liquid chromatography and a polydispersity between 0,2 and 0,5.
