We demonstrate overtone spectroscopy by vibrationally assisted dissociation and photofragment ionization (OSVADPI) in a supersonic jet expansion of chloroform seeded into argon. By comparison with a room temperature spectrum it was possible to identify hot band transitions in the N j = 4 1 , CH‐stretch overtone spectrum thus obtained. In addition, transitions due to different isotopomers of chloroform and possible resonances are discussed, and assignments of the congested spectrum are suggested.
