Polyfluorinated triazapentadienes HN[C(C3F7)NAr]2 with bulky aryl substituents react with TlOEt to give rare, monomeric thallium(I) complexes in which the TlI center coordinates to the central nitrogen atom of the W-shaped triazapentadienyl ligand system (see figure; Ar=2,4,6-trimethylphenyl; N: blue, F: yellow, Tl: green).
