A multiple nonparallel receiving slit assembly enables diffraction patterns combining high intensity with good resolution to be obtained from transmission specimens using primary beam divergencies of several degrees. Analysis of line profiles from specimens set for symmetric and asymmetric transmission indicates advantages of the method for low angle diffraction and preferred orientation studies.
