Two methods are presented for treating sequences of random pulses which are applicable to cases where the distribution of periods, durations or intervals is known. The methods are shown to lead to identical results and enable the correlation functions, after-effect functions and spectra to be calculated. The results are applied to typical sequences; some existing results are shown to be particular cases of the theory presented.
