The viscosity of several simple gases is discussed with reference to the Lennard-Jones 12:6 potential. The predicted and experimental viscosities agree well at moderate temperatures, but the agreement is not so good at higher temperatures, and for some gases, no possible choice of the force parameters will predict the correct temperature variation of the viscosity at high temperatures.
