A new method is presented for measuring anisotropy dispersion by using biaxial Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). This method makes it possible to measure the magnitude and angular dispersion of anisotropy field independently and quantitatively. Useful information can thus be obtained by examining the relationship between the anisotropy dispersion and the characteristics of magnetization. The measured anisotropy dispersion was used to calculate the frequency dependence of the permeability of permalloy film. The calculated permeability agrees well with the measured value.
