The magnetic anisotropy properties of 57 Fe-doped PrCo 2 , TbCo 2 , DyCo 2 and ErCo 2 were studied by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy in the 4.2-300K temperature range. Single-ion crystal field calculations account for the experimental results and enable determination of ranges of crystal field parameters. The temperature dependence of the 57 Fe hyperfine effective fields in RCo 2 is presented, and a comparison with similar previous studies is made.
