Using a three-step laser excitation scheme we have selectively excited the Ba 6p 3/2 n s( J = 1,2) autoionizing Rydberg states with different polarization configurations. The level energies and widths of Ba 6p 3/2 n s( J = 1) autoionizing states with n = 9-33 and 6p 3/2 n s( J = 2) autoionizing states with n = 9-20 are reported, most of which were observed for the first time. Their spectroscopic properties are discussed in detail. The experimental data are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis from the multichannel quantum defect theory.
