Porous CeO2 was synthesized via calcination of a Ce (III)-PVP complex precursor at 400 °C. The resulting material possesses a high specific surface area of 94.02 m2/g, with a narrow pore size distribution centered around 4 nm. The product exhibits a porous sheet-like structure composed of aggregated CeO2 nanocrystals (10–30 nm), a band gap of 3.29 eV, and a high concentration of Ce3+ species and surface oxygen vacancies, demonstrating strong UV absorption and significant potential as a high-activity catalyst.
