We have imaged nine fields through a system of narrow-band filters, in order to search for Lyα emission from primeval galaxies at 2.2_<= z <= 3.3. We report here on our inability to detect emission-line objects down to a 1σ brightness threshold of 5.6 X 10^-17^ erg cm^-2^ s^-1^ arcsec^-2^, with a limiting space density of less than 20 objects per square degree. These results are in disagreement with simple models by about a factor of 10.
