Crossed and uncrossed acoustic reflex amplitude was measured in 92 adult subjects. Subject age and sex markedly influenced reflex amplitude. Over the range of 20-80 years, reflex amplitude decreased, on the average, by 56%. In older subjects, there was a significant sex effect. Maximum amplitude in males was 64% of female amplitude.
