Although intra-abdominal desmoid tumors are rare, they make up a distinct anatomical and clinical entity. It has been learned that unless an intra-abdominal desmoid is resected in its entirety, recurrence of the lesion is inevitable. Nine cases of intra-abdominal desmoid tumors were reviewed from Memorial Hospital. A radical surgical approach, including two hemipelvectomies, was performed in the hope of curing the patient. Four of the 9 patients in this series remain free of disease 5 or more years following surgery.
