SUMMARY The analytical foundation and manufacture of a dosage prescription slide rule for use with low L.E.T. radiation is described. The rule may be used with orthovoltage and megavoltage acute fractionated therapies for squamous cell carcinoma, Hodgkin's disease, seminoma, osteosarcoma, etc., for squamous carcinoma treated with interstitial, intracavitary and permanent implant methods with radiation sources of known effective half‐life. The rule may also be used in the prescription of mixed therapies, e.g. treatments using intracavitary applicators combined with supplementary external beams of X rays. One scale of the rule is easily modified to suit local practice.
