Catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in neonates requiring invasive vascular access in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).Although less common than bacterial infections, fungal CRBSIs pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.Candida parapsilosis has emerged as a notable cause of catheter-associated infections in neonatal settings, particularly in association with central venous catheters. We report a case of umbilical venous catheter-related bloodstream infection due to C. parapsilosis in a term neonate admitted with respiratory distress, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis and appropriate antifungal management.
