Background: Socio-dental indicators have been developed to assess the functional and psychological impacts of oral health on daily life. Hence, the study aims to assess the dental impact on daily performances among out-patients attending a dental hospital and correlate it with the Decayed, Missing and Filled Teeth (DMFT) status. Materials and Methods: Study was performed on 269 out-patients reporting to Saveetha Dental College. All were given a self-administered questionnaire and every study subject underwent a clinical examination using DMFT index. Results: Among the 269 individuals, 35 (13%) were satisfied, 187 (69.5%) were relatively satisfied and 47 (17.5%) were unsatisfied regarding their dental health. There was a high correlation between the number of decayed, missing and filled teeth and perception of dental health. Conclusion: The results of the current study show high correlation between DMFT scores and level of satisfaction using the dental impact on daily living scale.
