A total of 107 mycosis fungoides patients were treated by total-skin irradiation with 2.5 MeV electrons. Patients with localized disease experienced long and sustained remissions; 8 were free of disease three to eleven years after their first and only course of electron irradiation. Most patients with widespread disease suffered a relapse within three years after their first treatment. It seems justified to refer patients with early and localized disease for total-skin electron irradiation. Potentially curative electron-beam therapy alone seems inadequate for patients with more advanced or widespread disease.
