When the 7‐isomer of the title compound is heated, the successive formation of the 3‐, 1‐, and 2‐isomers by thermal 1–5 shifts of hydrogen is observed. Irradiation of the 3‐isomer yields the 2‐isomer. The rate constants for the various shifts are 1.7 ± 0.4 times larger than the corresponding constants for phenylcycloheptatriene.
