Altenaeum dawsoni (Jeffreys, 1864) (syn. A. nortoni Spaink, 1972) is reported from three scattered localities in northern Norway viz. Bleik, Finnvik, and Store Ekkeröy. The species is compared with Epilepton clarkiae (Clark, 1852) and Mysella maltzani (Verkrüzen, 1876), its systematic position is discussed, and it is concluded to retain the generic name Altenaeum Spaink, 1972 to denote a monotypic genus in, probably, the Condylocardiidae. A brief account on the species' distribution is also presented.
