The delay time between the initial contact of two waterdrops and the actual beginning of coalescence, has been investigated. The drops were freely suspended in a large vertical wind tunnel, and measurements were made of collisions with a wide range of relative velocities. As would be expected, the results show a general decrease in the delay of coalescence with increasing velocity, but the exact relationship is uncertain.
