Three different methods for grafting methacrylic acid onto polyethylene have been investigated. These were carried out in melt, in the swollen gel, and in solution. It has been found that the membranes obtained by pressing the blends are optically homogeneous when the products obtained in melt or in solution were used, but grafting in gel led to a macroheterogeneous product. For further studies the product containing a relatively high content of grafted methacrylic acid obtained in solution was chosen.
