A semiclassical expression for the resonance Raman scattering amplitude for a diatomic molecule obtained in part I (1979, Molec. Phys., 37, 279) from an indirect argument is derived with the help of the standing wave Green's function constructed with Langer approximants to the regular and irregular solutions for the excited potential. The necessary integrations are carried out by the saddle point method. The JWKB limit of this Raman scattering amplitude which, from a molecular point of view, is a bound to bound transition amplitude via a continuum can also be interpreted as describing a short range scattering process with a constraint on the energy.
