A general formula is derived for the overlap integral between two Slater-type atomic orbitals of arbitrary integer quantum numbers. The integral is expressed as a finite sum involving powers and confluent hypergeometric functions. The expressions differ substantially from previously given formulas and are particularly suitable for use with an electronic computer of large storage capacity. Computing times are quoted.
