The local custom of going round the yards in winter with the singing of a special carol, defined in the village, was considered. The island of Dubensky district as "shasta". The main ritual actions that accompany the process of shasting are characterized. The ethnographic and musical material was analyzed at the level of function, compositional, melotypological properties and poetic content of the work.
